Law Students and Volunteers

Suffolk Lawyers for Justice partners law students and volunteer attorneys with members of our bar advocate panel in semester or year-long mentoring relationships.

The program aims to improve the quality of representation available to indigent clients by providing our lawyers with help from dedicated volunteers trained in legal advocacy and research. In turn, students and inexperienced attorneys benefit from having the opportunity to learn how to prepare a case for trial.

SLJ panel attorneys who participate in the program do so voluntarily and expect their volunteers to handle cases with a high degree of professionalism. All students and attorneys applying to the program should understand that if accepted, they will be expected to work in a responsible, energetic and committed manner.

Law students and prospective volunteers:

Please submit a completed application and a current resume to SLJ at the address provided below.  Please note that time required to pair you with a mentor can vary depending on the availability and interest of our attorneys.

SLJ panel attorneys:

To be paired with a law student or volunteer attorney, please submit a completed attorney registration form.
