RE:

Reminder Regarding Interim Billing for FY08 Representation

DATE:

10/26/2007

We have completed the transmission of payments to the Comptroller for outstanding FY07 bills. As we informed you in our E-Bill notice dated 9/18/07, we will continue to accept bills under our Temporary Interim Billing procedures but payments will be processed twice monthly instead of weekly.

For November 2007, bills will be paid as follows:

For our last weekly payment, all bills received in good order through Friday October 26th, will be submitted to the Comptroller for payment on Wednesday, November 7th.

Beginning October 27th, bills received in good order will be submitted to the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) for payment twice a month.

All bills received in good order through the 15th of the month (beginning 11/15/07 and until further notice) will be forwarded to OSC within 5 to 7 business days of the 15th.

All bills received in good order from the 16th through the 30th of the month will be forwarded to OSC within 5 to 7 business days of the 30th.

Meanwhile, we are continuing to work on a permanent plan for monthly billing to present to the Committee for Public Counsel Services before the end of the calendar year. We are also continuing to consider suggestions for the permanent plan from assigned counsel, preferably by e-mail, to Deputy Chief Counsel Nancy Bennett (nbennett@publiccounsel.net), Deputy Chief Counsel Mike Dsida (mdsida@publiccounsel.net), or Mental Health Litigation Unit Director Stan Goldman (sgoldman@publiccounsel.net).

Thank you for your continued commitment to providing legal services to the indigent despite the financial burden that you have endured for the past several months.
