SLJ Submits Brief in Lyles Case
On January 7, 2009, Suffolk Lawyers for Justice submitted an amicus brief in Commonwealth v. Lyles (SJC-10271). SLJ Board member and New England School of Law Professor David Siegel was the lead author of the brief. The case raises constitutional questions about the authority of police to stop and search pedestrians without evidence of a crime and is currently before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Click here for a copy of the brief.
SLJ is always looking for volunteer attorneys interested in law reform and criminal justice issues. Attorneys may volunteer to help with amicus briefs, research, or other activities. Please contact Mary Lu Mendonca or Professor Siegel if you would like to help SLJ promote reform on a particular issue. |
