SLJ Submits Brief in Porter Case

On December 11, 2009, Suffolk Lawyers for Justice submitted an amicus brief in the case of Commonwealth v. Porter P. (SJC-10383).  SLJ Board member and New England School of Law Professor David Siegel was lead author on the brief.  Porter P., currently pending before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, raises the question of whether the doctrine of apparent authority to consent to a search should be recognized as consistent with Article 14 of the Massachusetts Constitution.  Click here for a copy of the brief.

SLJ is always looking for attorneys interested in law reform and criminal justice issues.  Attorneys may volunteer to help with amicus briefs, research, or other activities.  Please contact Mary Lu Mendonca or Professor Siegel if you would like to help SLJ promote reform on a particular issue.
